Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) uses an Adult Learning Model and Action-Reflection training to teach competency in caring for spiritual health. CPE prepares individuals of all faiths and serious spiritual inquirers for work in a variety of institutional, community and private practice settings. We also educate those who are preparing for ordained/commissioned religious leadership to have competence in providing spiritual care to their faith communities.
The program includes:
• Spiritual formation
• Group supervision of spiritual care practice
• Individual supervision of spiritual care practice
• Personal and professional development seminars
• Didactic sessions
• Interdisciplinary participation in clinical work
• Opportunities for spiritual reflection
The Canadian Association for Spiritual Care/Association canadienne de soins spirituels (CASC/ACSS) is a national, multifaith organization that supports professionals who provide spiritual care and psychospiritual therapy in settings like hospitals, communities, and faith groups. It offers education, certification, and standards for those working in spiritual care helping people explore meaning, values, and beliefs during life’s challenges. CASC/ACSS promotes compassionate, holistic care and collaborates with teaching centres across Canada to train future practitioners.
Saskatchewan Institute for Psychospiritual Education (SIPE) holds CASC/ACSS Accreditation on behalf of a cluster of CPE teaching sites. SIPE is recognized academically by the member colleges of the Saskatoon Theological Union. SIPE members promote spiritual care and oversee the unique vision and needs of the SIPE CPE programs.
